Every week I am taken to a whole new level with respect to technology. With not very much knowledge about wiki's prior to this week, I am delighted to see that wikis can be used as a collaborative tool for students. I really like the fact that many people can work at the same to to not only collaborate but also contribute. Thinking of the media center, this is a great way for students to research on a topic whether it be individually or in teams. I work in a PK-4 environment and can really only see wiki's as a possibility for 3rd and 4th grade. I can only imagine the endless possibilites in middle and high school. I am going to make sure and pass this information from this week to the middle and high school media specialists at my school.
I am a part of the organization South Carolina Association of School Librarians (SCASL). We are currently in the process of creating a wiki to keep all the documents that we use so frequently to be located on the scasl website. There will also be a place for us to contribute processes that we use to share with other media specialists. I am excited to see how this will play out.

Yes, wikis can be a great benefit to help organize and share documents for an organization. We've used wikis to organize lunch orders, setup meeting agendas, etc. Good to share the wealth of info with your colleagues!
We use a Wiki for our COmputer Services division. This assists us in not having to worry about how we are logged in for access to documents, info, serial numbers. It certainly has streamlined my job since at one time I was a six different schools and would forget where I saved things!!
I think Wikis might be one of the most useful tools we have learned about so far but I did not know about the "organizational" aspect...tools tools tools! ed
